How Long Does SculpSure Take to Work?

You’re proud of your weight loss. You were overweight, and now you’re at a healthy weight. Unfortunately, despite the improvements you made to your health, you don’t feel satisfied with the way your body looks. At Le Reve Skincare and Laser Center in Fort Worth, TX , we’d like to talk to you about SculpSure, a revolutionary body sculpting treatment designed to lift and tighten sagging skin while eliminating excess fat.

How Long SculpSure Takes to Work

You will start to notice the treated areas shrinking approximately six weeks after your first treatment session. However, this treatment works by liquefying the walls of fat cells through highly focused laser energy. Unlike liposuction, the original fat removal method, this treatment does not involve the surgical removal of fat cells. Rather, it allows your body to eliminate the destroyed fat cells through its own natural process of waste elimination.

Once the fat cells in the targeted area are liquefied, your body recognizes them as waste and your lymphatic system sweeps them up. It can take your lymphatic system up to six weeks to sweep up and eliminate all of the liquefied fat cells. If you need three sessions spaced six weeks apart, you will need to wait 18 weeks after your first session to see the final results of the treatment.

How Long Treatment Takes

Treatment will take approximately 25 minutes per targeted area. If you’re trying to remove excess fat from three regions of your body in a single session, you should expect your session to last nearly 90 minutes. However, everyone’s body is unique.

Treatment time will vary by the individual due to different aesthetic goals and different body fat distributions. We can give you a better idea of how long your treatment should take during your consultation.

What to Expect During Treatment

During your treatment session, we will sanitize the targeted area and wrap a laser belt around the region. The lasers on the belt will warm up to the appropriate temperature for the thickness of your skin and how far the unwanted fat is from the skin’s surface.

Once the belt has been wrapped around the targeted area, all you have to do is relax, wait, and let the energy emitted by the lasers work their magic.

The Areas That Can Be Treated

This laser device can be used to remove unwanted fat from just about anywhere. It is most commonly used to remove excess fat from the flanks, upper abdomen, and lower abdomen. However, it can also remove unwanted fat from the thighs, back, and under the chin.

Let us know about each of your problem areas during your initial consultation. We will assess the volume of the excess fat present to determine if treatment with this device will be feasible.

How to Prepare for Treatment

During your initial consultation, we will provide you with everything you need to know about preparation for treatment with this device based on your current health. If you’re not taking any drugs or nutritional supplements, there’s not much you’ll need to do to prepare. If you’re taking NSAIDs or other blood-thinners, you’ll need to stop 72 hours in advance of your treatment. This includes nutritional supplements, such as ginger, garlic, and turmeric.

Regardless of whether you’re taking blood-thinners or anything that can affect blood clotting, you’ll need to protect your skin from the sun in advance of your treatment. You won’t be considered a good candidate for treatment if your skin is burned by the sun. Furthermore, you won’t be considered a good candidate if you have an active skin infection. To prepare for treatment, wear sunscreen to prevent sunburn and prevent skin infections by practicing good hygiene.

Aftercare Steps to Take

Take Acetaminophen If You Feel Discomfort

If you feel any discomfort in the 72 hours following your fat removal treatment session, do not take NSAIDs or any other drugs or supplements that can affect your blood’s ability to clot. If you feel the need to take an analgesic, opt for acetaminophen or another pharmaceutical that does not affect blood viscosity.

Drink Plenty of Water

You should always be well-hydrated, but it is particularly important to be well-hydrated after your fat removal session because it speeds up the final results of the treatment. One of the primary benefits of fat removal with this device rather than alternatives is the heat from the lasers encourages your skin to produce extra collagen. The extra collagen produced in the treatment area will smooth and tighten the skin.

If you’re adequately hydrated after your session, your skin will be able to “heal” itself faster. You may notice your skin looks taut and smooth within a month rather than having to wait six weeks for your skin to tighten up. This also holds true for the fat removal benefits you get from treatment with this device. A hydrated body is more likely to be a healthy body with an efficient lymphatic system.

Good Candidates for Treatment

While SculpSure is FDA-approved for the safe and efficient fat removal of most healthy adults, it’s not right for everyone. We assess many factors to help us determine whether this treatment would be safe and effective for someone considering treatment. Among the factors we assess are current health, body fat distribution, and weight.

Current Health

When it comes to being considered a good candidate for this treatment, the medical history and current health of anyone considering this treatment are the two most important factors. Even if your medical history does not show any indication that this treatment is not appropriate for you, you may not be healthy enough for this treatment currently.

Two of the most common things that preclude people from this treatment temporarily are pregnancy and breastfeeding. There have been no clinical trials researching the safety of this treatment in such women. Therefore, if you are pregnant or nursing, even if you are perfectly healthy, you should off on treatment. You should also hold off on treatment if you have an active skin condition, like eczema or infection. Finally, hold off on treatment if you are ill.

Body Fat Distribution

Your body fat distribution is another important factor we will consider when determining if you are a good candidate for treatment. You may hate the way bras accentuate your underarm fat, but if you don’t have enough excess fat in your underarm area, the treatment device can’t be used to remove excess fat from there effectively.

The converse also holds true. If there is too much excess fat in a given region, the treatment device may not be able to remove enough excess fat for you to be satisfied with the final results. For example, if you have 20 pounds of abdominal fat, one session will remove approximately 24% of the fat cells, or 4.8 pounds. A second session would only remove an additional 3.6 pounds for a total of 8.4 pounds (less than half of the total starting fat mass).

Weight

Your weight plays a role in determining whether you are a good candidate for this treatment because your weight is used to calculate your BMI (body mass index). Your body mass index is the ratio of your mass (body weight) in kilograms and the square of your height in meters. This treatment is most effective for individuals with a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9, but can also be used effectively on individuals with a BMI ranging from 25 to 29.9.

If your BMI is 30 or above, several potential problems arise. First, individuals with a BMI of greater than 29.9 are most often not healthy enough to receive treatment. Second, such individuals have too much body fat stored. Even if the treatment was safe, it would not be effective. If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, we strongly recommend losing weight through diet and exercise until your BMI is 24.9 at most.

How to Lose Weight

If you want to be the best candidate for treatment with this innovative laser device, you should be within 20 pounds of your ideal weight. If you’re not within 20 pounds of your ideal weight, we may be able to help. The bottom line of excess fat storage is more calories are consumed over a period of time than a body needs for fuel.

Weight loss is as simple as consuming fewer calories than your body needs to maintain its current weight, but that’s not always easy. We offer several tools that can help you lose weight quickly and safely and keep it off.

IV Therapy

IV therapy is a safe, effective tool to help anyone lose weight. Depending on the formula chosen, IV therapy can treat such conditions as chronic fatigue, mood disorders, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue. If you have a medical condition that is making weight loss extremely difficult, like major depressive disorder or generalized anxiety, we have an IV solution for you.

IV therapy is a great weight loss tool because it treats the problem that’s preventing you from losing weight. For example, if you’re too depressed to cook healthy foods and work out, we can administer B vitamins and other essential micronutrients to stabilize your mood. Then, you’ll have the energy, mental clarity, and motivation to develop healthier habits that lead to weight loss and subsequent weight maintenance.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help you lose weight and keep it off if your weight gain was caused by imbalanced hormones. As you age, your body produces sex hormones at an increasingly reduced rate. Signs of this change aren’t usually noticed until someone is in his or her 50s or 60s. Nevertheless, the side effects of imbalanced hormones may be noticed as soon as the age of 35.

Everyone experiences the effects of imbalanced hormones differently. Some experience weight gain caused by muscle loss slowing the metabolism. Others develop anxiety and gain weight due to excess consumption of food, and carbs in particular, which we crave during times of stress. Others experience weight gain due to the inability to balance their food consumption and activity level. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help.
