It takes time and effort to get rid of unwanted hair, and over a lifetime, that investment of time and effort (not to mention money) can be significant. To break the endless cycle, try laser hair removal. It’s a convenient way to get smooth skin, and we’re proud to offer this treatment here at Le Reve Skincare & Laser Center in Fort Worth, TX.
Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?
If you have your full cycle of treatment sessions, you can expect to stop the cycle of hair growth for the rest of your life. The key is getting all your sessions, and the number you will need depends on your unique physiology. Most people will be able to get their final results after about four to six sessions. However, some people with especially thick and dark hair may need up to ten sessions to see their final, permanent results.
When you come to see us for a consultation, we’ll be able to give you a better estimate of how many sessions you’ll need. But even if it takes as many as ten sessions, it really is worth it. When you factor in that the average woman spends more than $10,000 over a lifetime on shaving products alone, and shaves more than 7,760 times, ten sessions of laser hair removal is really worth it.
Benefits of Laser Treatment
No More Razor Burn!
Whether it’s waxing, plucking, shaving, or, perhaps worst of all, depilatory creams, you can expect some kind of skin irritation most of the time. This irritation may sometimes fade quickly, but other times it persists and is both unsightly and uncomfortable. Once your hair is gone, you never have to worry about this issue again.
Smooth Skin
Once you get rid of the unwanted hair in your target area, you’ll typically find that your skin is much smoother ever after. Many people report this effect after laser hair removal, and it’s probably because of reduced irritation.
A Better Investment
You’ve probably already invested quite a lot of time and money into dealing with your hair. The investment in money doesn’t seem so significant because we don’t have to pay it all at once, but it really adds up. And we all know the frustration of having to carve out ten extra minutes to get all that shaving done. Once you’re done with laser treatments, you’re done for good.
FAQ About Laser Hair Removal
What Areas Can Be Treated?
There are very few areas that can’t be treated, actually, and if you have a place you’d like to remove hair from that’s not on our list below, come talk to us. We can let you know if laser treatments are a possibility for meeting your goals. In all likelihood, they are!
Legs
As you can imagine, this is one of the most popular treatment areas. It just takes so long to shave our legs, and it’s all too easy to miss a spot on the back of the legs when we’re in a hurry. Yet missed spots are unsightly: and as the hair grows back, stubble can be irritating to deal with.
Upper Lip
This is another popular area to treat. It’s highly frustrating for women to grow hair in this area, and many men like to get a few treatments here, too, in order to thin out the hair so it’s easier to shave and less likely to experience razor burn. This treatment can make your upper lip effortlessly smooth.
Bikini Area
The skin in this area is very sensitive, so it’s no surprise that it’s a popular area to have treated with lasers. When you’re constantly plucking, waxing, or shaving the bikini area, you’re going to experience a lot of discomfort. Laser hair treatments can put an end to that.
Underarms
Getting rid of the hair under the arms can be a real lifesaver for many people. It reduces sweating and body odor, and it allows you to use less antiperspirant (and thus expose yourself to less aluminum). This area is also very prone to irritation, so consider getting rid of the hair here permanently.
Arms
Some people just have a lot of arm hair, and for some people, it’s also very dark and noticeable. You can’t do anything about the genetics that cause this, but you can do something about the hair itself. With laser treatments, you can get rid of it and not worry about it growing back thicker.
Back
Believe it or not, the back is a popular spot to have hair removed from, especially for men. It can be nearly impossible to shave one’s own back, and waxing is simply inconvenient (as is the stubble while it grows back). It’s not necessary to remove all the hair here, either. Just thinning it out is enough for many men. Many people feel a lot more confident going shirtless once they’ve had this treatment.
Does This Treatment Hurt?
This is not a painful treatment. The laser’s heat energy will only target the hair follicle, not the skin. We will make sure you’re comfortable throughout your treatment session.
Can This Treat Thick Hair?
This is a very effective treatment for thicker or darker hair. You may need more treatments than those who have lighter hair or thin hair, but the treatment will work just fine for you. You’ll notice your hair thinning out dramatically after your first session or two, and soon it will be gone completely.
Is This Safe?
This is a very safe treatment that is used all over the world every day. Not only are lasers used to get rid of unwanted hair, but they’re also useful in skin resurfacing and other cosmetic treatments. This is a proven treatment.
How Do I Get Ready for Treatment?
For about a month before treatment, you should avoid waxing, plucking, or using depilatory creams. These all remove the hair completely, and if you do that, your laser treatments will have nothing to target. The laser needs the hair to “find” the follicle. You can shave, and, in fact, you should shave the day before treatment for the best results.
Can I Treat Multiple Areas at Once?
Absolutely. We can treat multiple areas in the same session, and the treatment is safe enough to use all over the body on the same day. It can save time to treat multiple areas at once, so if you think you’ll want to get rid of hair in multiple areas, let us know and we’ll help you make a schedule to reach your goals.
How Do I Care for My Skin After Treatment?
For the first one to two days after treatment, you’ll want to avoid sunbathing or tanning beds. If you have to go out, be sure to wear sunscreen. You should also carefully moisturize your skin, and it’s important to stay hydrated, as well. Other than that, there’s really nothing special you need to do. This is a fast, easy, and safe treatment.
How Often Can I Have a Treatment?
For most people, it’s best to schedule treatments four to six weeks apart, though you may need to wait a bit longer depending on your results and the rate at which your hair grows. It’s important to allow enough time between treatments for your hair to grow a bit. The laser is only able to disable hair follicles in the active growing stage: hairs that are in their naturally dormant state won’t be affected. By waiting, you allow more hair to cycle into the active stage.
How Long Does a Session Take?
The answer to this question will depend on how many areas you’re having treated and which ones they are. Obviously, a larger area like the legs will take longer than the underarms, but you can generally expect your session to last between 30 and 60 minutes. Even if every session lasts for 60 minutes, however, and even if you needed 10 sessions to see your final results, you’re only talking about 10 hours total for permanent hair reduction. If you shave, you’re talking about nearly 1,300 hours over a lifetime for the same thing.
