Remove Your Stretch Marks with Laser Treatments in Fort Worth

stretch marks

Stretch marks are caused by skin that has been kept in a compressed or tensioned position for a long time. Individuals in Fort Worth who work in an occupation that requires remaining in an unnatural body position are prone to stretch marks. Those who suffer from poor posture can also experience these light discolorations. Stretch marks are a sort of blemish, and they can be treated by replacing the upper skin layers with newer, healthier growth. This can be achieved via laser resurfacing. This type of skin treatment involves the use of concentrated, monochromatic light beams. The light energy cauterizes the epidermis, so this is a gentle form of skin ablation. The results can be quite positively dramatic, and most individuals need not have the procedure repeated. Many of our Fort Worth clients are amazed at the positive results they experience after laser resurfacing.

How Lasers Treat Skin Problems

The instrument used for this procedure is a handheld device that emits pulses of highly concentrated light energy. We have complete control over the depth of the cauterization by finely calibrating the instrument based on the client’s skin tone and skin thickness. Each pulse of light lasts only milliseconds. Slowly but surely, the epidermis is removed. Although the epidermis is considered a single layer of skin, the laser removes it little by little, and the tissues below remain unaffected. The body responds to the removal of the epidermis by accelerating the production of new skin cells in the lower dermal layers. Eventually, the uppermost remaining layer becomes the new epidermal layer.

During the Consultation

We examine the stretch marks closely and note their actual tone and the depth to which the discoloration exists. This helps us calibrate the laser instrument properly, and it also tells us how many pulses of light energy per a given surface area of skin are required to do the job. The actual procedure is very simple and is performed in the comfort of our office in Fort Worth.

Unless the discolorations become visible once more, a follow-up treatment isn’t usually necessary. Laser resurfacing can be performed to treat other forms of hyperpigmentation as well. Birthmarks, acne scars, and sun-damaged skin can be improved with certain types of laser resurfacing.

Advantages Over Other Treatments

Some treatments can bleach the skin, and some can actually cause localized regions of hyperpigmentation. Laser resurfacing is suitable for all skin types and skin tones. Because the epidermis is being replaced, the result will be smoother, more evenly toned skin without the risk of a bleached appearance.
